The Bolsheviks were the group of socialist revolutionaries that was headed by Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, otherwise known as Lenin. Lenin demanded the transfer of power from the Provisional Government to the Soviets. This group led many changes within Russia.

This was the Chinese nationalist party that ruled from 1928 to 1949 which was when the party was overthrown by the communists. This was because they could not really meet the needs of the peasants.

This was the Women's Department of the Communist Party in Russia. This department pushed for many women's equality reforms. They were eventually put out of power by male communists.

This was initiated by both the USSR and China; those who held large pieces of land were forced to share their land with peasants. This also industrialized farms to attempt to increase food production.
Cultural Revolution
A piece of propaganda depicting the destruction of things that connected the country to the past especially religious items.
This was a campaign initiated by Mao Zedong that aimed to destroy all of the capitalist tendencies that were thought to have infiltrated the ranks of the CCP.

During this time, the Soviet Union attempted to dispose the supposed enemies of the people. This caused over a million people to be executed and many more to be sentenced to life in prison or labor.
Cuban missile crisis
A political cartoon depicting the struggle between the U.S and Soviet Union.
Labeled the most dangerous/threatening part of the Cold War. Cuba received missiles from the USSR which caused the U.S to get angry. This crisis was ended with a compromise.

The Soviet Union becoming more open and free
Mikhail Gorbachev's policies that allowed greater freedom and ended the censorship of the media. This resulted in the widespread knowledge of what was going on around the world and even within the Soviet Union.
