The Ottoman Empire was one of the longest lasting and most impressive empires that lasted from the late 13th century to 1923. It was founded by Turks from central Asia that settled in the Middle East (especially Anatolia). It was composed of dynastic rule but was not really dictated by region or states or other similar separations. The name of the Ottomans comes from the first leader, Osman Bey who set out to connect all the separated Turkish states.
